In the heart of London stands the world’s tallest observation wheel—the London Eye, the most popular tourist attraction in the UK. At a height of 135 meters, its glass capsules offer breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Due to its scale, regular maintenance is a major challenge, which is why Orion Access Services relies on two PALFINGER access platforms to get the job done.

Maintenance work was carried out during the night, to avoid daytime crowds, using the exceptionally versatile WT 610 and P 550 platforms. Three technicians needed to ascend to 50 meters to lubricate and inspect the rear cables. The WT 610 was extended in a straight vertical line to the top, while the P 550 made use of its flexible boom and X-jib, skillfully maneuvering around every obstacle.
