“Heavy Duty” Recovery Vehicle for Trucks and Buses
The “Heavy Duty” towing vehicle for trucks and buses is a proprietary product developed by PK-Palfinger Kran d.o.o., designed in close cooperation with customers and based on real operational requirements. The vehicle fully complies with all applicable legal regulations and certification requirements necessary for vehicle registration. This solution represents a specialised truck-mounted superstructure intended for towing, recovery and extraction of heavy commercial vehicles, trucks, buses and construction or industrial machinery, even in the most demanding operating conditions.
Internationally, this type of vehicle is commonly referred to as a Heavy Duty Recovery Vehicle or heavy recovery truck. In the PK-Palfinger Kran execution, each recovery vehicle is custom-built to customer specifications, ensuring maximum adaptability to specific operational needs. These superstructures are designed for professional towing service providers, where reliability, safety and high operational efficiency are critical.
Technical Design and Equipment
The truck-mounted recovery superstructure is designed for towing disabled trucks and buses, as well as for recovering vehicles involved in traffic accidents or vehicles that have left the roadway. For heavy-duty towing operations, the vehicle is equipped with specially engineered hydraulically controlled towing forks, consisting of a main arm and an auxiliary arm. The auxiliary arm allows the forks to be positioned extremely low to the ground, significantly reducing the risk of damage to vehicle bumpers and undercarriage during recovery operations.
The towing forks (briles) provide a maximum lifting capacity of up to 26 tonnes in the retracted position, enabling safe and controlled handling of even the heaviest vehicles.

The heavy duty recovery trucks offered by PK-Palfinger Kran can be configured either as classic towing vehicles for trucks and buses or as a combined recovery solution with an integrated Palfinger hydraulic crane, significantly expanding the vehicle’s operational capabilities.
The integration of a Palfinger crane enables: lifting and handling of heavy loads, assistance during complex recovery operations and greater operational independence on-site without the need for additional machinery.
Each truck-mounted superstructure is individually designed and engineered, with full adaptation to the vehicle chassis, the intended types of interventions and the specific working conditions of the end user.
