PK-PALFINGER KRAN Ltd. has successfully completed one of its largest single deliveries in recent years for HEP – Distribution System Operator Ltd. (HEP ODS), a company within the Croatian Electric Utility (HEP Group) responsible for the management, maintenance, development and construction of Croatia’s electricity distribution network, ensuring the safe and reliable supply of electricity to end users throughout the country.

The project includes a total of 56 specialized vehicles and trailers intended for the maintenance, construction and emergency interventions on the power distribution network. A total of 27 vehicles equipped with PALFINGER cranes and aerial work platforms and 29 specialized trailers for transporting concrete utility poles and equipment have been delivered. This comprehensive solution has been developed to support the maintenance, expansion and modernization of the electricity distribution network, further enhancing the safety, efficiency and reliability of HEP’s field operations.
PK-PALFINGER KRAN Ltd. is one of Croatia’s leading manufacturers of specialized commercial vehicle bodies and an authorized distributor and service partner for PALFINGER products. Founded in 1992, the company specializes in the development, engineering, manufacturing, installation and servicing of PALFINGER truck-mounted cranes, aerial work platforms, municipal and construction bodies, hookloaders, forestry equipment, trailers, semi-trailers and other customized transport solutions. Its in-house development, production and service capabilities enable the execution of complex projects tailored to the needs of customers in the energy, municipal, construction, transport and defense sectors.
The partnership between PK-PALFINGER KRAN Ltd. and HEP ODS has lasted for almost three decades. Since the first delivery in 1997, the company has completed more than 375 deliveries of PALFINGER cranes, aerial work platforms and other specialized solutions for HEP companies throughout Croatia. This latest project represents one of the largest single deliveries in recent years and further confirms the long-standing partnership, mutual trust and shared commitment to modernizing HEP’s fleet.
As part of the project for HEP ODS, 10 Iveco Daily 35S14H vehicles equipped with PALFINGER P200 AE work platforms for working at height were delivered. The platforms enable a working height of 19.7 meters , a lateral reach of up to 8.4 meters and a maximum basket load of 230 kg . The vehicles are equipped with insulated PVC work baskets intended for safe work on live electrical installations, thus representing a reliable solution for everyday interventions and maintenance of the distribution network.
At the same time , 10 Iveco T-Way 360 vehicles equipped with PALFINGER PK 245 TEC truck cranes with five hydraulic extensions were delivered, which enable a maximum hydraulic reach of 15.3 meters . The vehicles are equipped with a TS-4.1 modular cargo box with internal dimensions of 4,100 × 2,480 × 600 mm , a hydraulic winch with a pulling force of 36 kN with 40 meters of steel cable , a PALFINGER work basket and a specially developed system for the safe transport and manipulation of concrete poles. A demountable turntable is built into the cargo box, while a carrier for storing concrete poles and a crane is installed at the rear of the vehicle. This configuration combines multiple functions in one working unit and enables the efficient performance of various works on the power grid.
The project also includes 7 Ford Ranger vehicles equipped with PALFINGER P130A work platforms intended for rapid interventions and works on the distribution network. The work platforms have a 13 m working height and 7 m lateral reach. The vehicles are additionally equipped with an electric winch with a pulling force of 3,500 kg , aluminum tool boxes, stabilizer support brackets and rear light protection, making them fully adapted to the demanding conditions of field work.
For the transport of concrete columns , 10 single-axle PST100 trailers with a load capacity of 6,150 kg were delivered. The trailers are equipped with a telescopic (adjustable) drawbar, a swivel for receiving concrete columns, and a modern WABCO EBS braking system that ensures safety and stability during the transport of long loads in all operating conditions.
An additional 19 NDM750 single-axle trailers with adjustable drawbars have also been delivered. These trailers are designed for transporting equipment and providing additional logistical support to HEP field crews during daily operations. Their design enables safe and efficient transport of various equipment required for the maintenance and construction of power distribution infrastructure.
The cooperation will continue during the autumn with the planned delivery of 11 additional Iveco AD190T36W vehicles equipped with PALFINGER PK 245 TEC truck-mounted cranes and TS-4.1 cargo bodies for work on the electricity distribution network. During the same period, HEP will also receive 10 MAN TGM 18.250 4×4 BB vehicles equipped with PALFINGER PK 18502 SH truck-mounted cranes and TS-4.0 cargo bodies. These deliveries will further expand HEP’s fleet of specialized vehicles dedicated to the maintenance, construction and emergency interventions on the power distribution network, while continuing the company’s investment in modern, safe and efficient field equipment.
